Scouting Report

How they got here: 2nd in Central Region The only team to defeat the 2000 Champions, Brown, at Nationals last year was Wisconsin. Wisconsin brings a team full of experience to the 2001 College Series Championships. With over half of the team having played in Club Nationals, the Ho-dags are ready for the big show. The team consists of fourteen seniors and a handful of youngsters who are led by Callahan nominee Jonathon "Opie" O'Connell (#8).

On a windy day Wisconsin is capable of beating the best. They will combine a hard man-to-man defense with a loose three-man cup zone to terrorize the opposition into turning the disc over. Beware of speedsters Lee Swingen (#33) and Tyler Spindler (#21) to streak deep after opposing teams' turnovers. More often than not they find themselves in the end zone with the disc.

What Wisconsin lacks in height they make up for with extreme leaping abilities and terrific hands. Be ready for their starters to play every position and defend opposing teams with near unbreakable marks. With the addition of two seasoned veterans, Michael Bluhm (#5) and Rice alum Michael Konopka (#12), Wisconsin is deeper and smarter than years past. You can be guaranteed to see the entire team leave their hearts on the field every game.
