When
you're the tallest person on a team by three inches, a lot is expected
of you. You're expected to reach for things on the top shelf, change light
bulbs, clear ceiling cobwebs, and catch any erroneous pass thrown to your
half of the field. Jim may have gotten the better end of Alex Nord in
the first pass of a 500 game, but it's the next 26 he didn't get that
he focuses on when training. An unsung hero by even his own teammates,
he does as much for the Hodags off the field as he does on. And he is
improving. Though lacking the confidence of the veterans, Jim's height
shows metaphorically that there is no glass ceiling to his skills. Given
increased responsibilities, by the time he is done he will stand head-and-shoulders
above the rest of the competition.
